Mad Max

Maxine Omi Montar, 27, worked as a stylist for clothing companies and magazines before launching her own business. She holds a fashion degree from Ivory School of Design and her designs are highly regarded in fashion circles internationally.

Max grew up with her parents, older brother, and sisters in Brazil, one of the only immigrant families in their neighborhood. She recalls finding shiny keepsakes when walking to school with her sisters through the town every morning.

"There was something that stood out to me almost everyday. It became a fun game to me. When I ran out of space to keep in my treasure chest, (yes you read that right) I just started to pin them to my dresses, and eventually my sneakers and backpack for school as well. All I wanted to wear was dresses, so my family and friends at school would call me "Princess". I may not wear the crown every day, but I keep that same energy with me every place that I go.
